De Quervain's tenosynovitis is a painful condition that affects the tendons on the thumb side of your wrist. It occurs when the tendons passing through the narrow tunnel sheath at the base of the thumb become inflamed. The two main tendons involved are the extensor pollicis brevis and the abductor pollicis longus.
